Praxis mark

Energy, planned.

Deliberate energy planning and local execution.

Praxis creates a daily energy plan using forecasts, tariffs, and device state—then executes it across PV, battery storage, EV charging, and flexible loads. Edge-first, explainable, and fail-safe.

Designed to run on-prem (Raspberry Pi 5) with Home Assistant integration.

Plan → execute → adapt

Praxis coordinates your home as a system. It plans ahead, executes locally, and adapts in near-real time when conditions change.

  • Praxis Plan: 24h rolling plan in 30‑minute bins, with 5‑minute adjustments.
  • Energy orchestration: Coordinate PV, battery, and EV to maximize self-consumption and reduce peak imports.
  • Edge-first control: Local decisions and safe fallbacks when data or devices are unavailable.

Phase 1 focus

Start with PV/battery/EV orchestration and a first specialized flexible load: pool systems.

Engineering-first by design

Praxis favors local control and clear reasoning. It’s infrastructure software: composed, precise, and resilient.

Edge-first

Local control > cloud dependency. Keep operating when connectivity, APIs, or forecasts degrade.

Explainable

Human-readable rationale for what will happen next—and why.

Fail-safe

Graceful degradation, manual override, and safe defaults when devices are unavailable.

Inputs

  • PV forecast and weather
  • Tariffs and peak windows
  • Device state (battery SoC, EV schedule, load status)

Outputs

  • Battery charge/discharge policy
  • EV charging schedule
  • Flexible load windows (starting with pool circulation)

Phase 1 scope (MVP)

Energy orchestration (Core)

  • Build the Praxis Plan (24h rolling plan; 30‑min bins; 5‑min adjustments)
  • Control PV/battery/EV to maximize self-consumption and reduce peak imports
  • Run on-prem (Raspberry Pi 5) with Home Assistant integration

Success criteria

  • ≥ 30% reduction in peak-period grid imports (vs baseline week)
  • Battery cycle count reduced or maintained while meeting comfort targets
  • Plan UI shows forecasts, SoC trajectory, EV schedule, pool windows, and rationale

Out of scope (Phase 1)

  • Retailer VPP integration / market bidding
  • Heat pump water heaters & HVAC control
  • Multi-site orchestration
  • Cloud-hosted optimisation

Praxis Pool (V1)

Pool systems are a high-impact flexible load: long run-times, clear constraints, and strong alignment with PV surplus.

Monitor

Track pH, ORP, temperature, and optional salinity—plus pump state and energy windows.

Control

Run a variable-speed pump to meet circulation and chemistry targets while aligning runtime to PV surplus and battery policy.

Fallbacks

Safe minimum circulation, device-offline behavior, and manual override when you need it.
